The discovery of the city of Chiang Mai in northwestern Thailand.
"The largest city in northern Thailand, founded in 1296 as the new capital of Lan Na" - According to Wikipedia
The Beginning
Booking a ticket to Chiang Mai is an opportunity for a discovery experience in northern Thailand. In mid-July 2015, I arrived in Chiang Mai carrying a large bag and a small backpack with a laptop and a DSLR camera.
I learned to drive a scooter under the mentorship of one of our team members, who has expertise in Marketing and Products. The driving lessons he gave me were effective, allowing me to quickly grasp the basics and start driving confidently.
The Discovery
After some time, I decided to rent a scooter for one month, which turned out to be the ideal choice for exploring the areas surrounding Chiang Mai. My first destination was the Waterfall in Doi Suthep, where heavy rain soaked us during our visit. Undeterred, once the rain subsided briefly, we continued our journey up the mountain from "Doi Pui View Point" to "Hmong Village". In "Hmong Village", we enjoyed spicy noodle soup with chicken meatballs along with cold drinks. Memorable viewpoints included "Doi Pui View Point" and "SONG SEAN COFFEE", both offering a 180° view of the scenery surrounded by trees and mountains.
AIS Camp, located in the MAYA shopping mall, is one of my favorite places for co-working space. The venue provides numerous tables and even meeting rooms for team brainstorming and kick-off meetings. The decoration inside the Camp is brilliant and modern, making it a place I want to return to for work again and again. It inspired me greatly during the design phase of a freelance project that began in mid-July 2015.
The Experience
Chiang Mai is the place where I started my full-time work in Thailand after working previously for one of the major Emirati media conglomerates in the Middle East and North Africa. The media company was launched in London in 1991 and relocated to Dubai in 2002. The weather conditions in Chiang Mai are generally favorable, although the air quality deteriorates during the burning season when traditional agricultural practices lead to the burning of crops. Despite this, Chiang Mai offers a plethora of attractions, and many people venture outside of northern Chiang Mai to explore neighboring countries such as Laos and Myanmar.
